JAMMU, Jan 10: On 43rd day of their ongoing indefinite protest, the agitating PDD Daily Wagers today took out a march towards the Divisional Commissioner’s office and held a strong demonstration there.
The protesting Daily Wagers were demanding their regularization as per SRO-381 of the State Government. They raised slogans in support of their demand and also against the State Government for not responding to their repeated pleas with regard to regularization.
The protest was organized under the banner of All J&K PDD Daily Wagers Union, led by its president Surjeet Khajuria and general secretary Ashwani Mehra. They also presented a reminder to the office of the Divisional Commissioner over their memorandum of demands, which was already submitted to the Div Com, last month.
Earlier, the agitating PDD Daily Wagers assembled at the office of SE EM&RE, Circle-I at Panama Chowk and then marched towards to the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu in the form of a procession.
Amidst raising of slogans, the march culminated in front of the Div Com office where the agitating Daily Wagers were addressed by the Union leaders, who strongly criticized the State Government for its step motherly treatment with the Jammu based Daily Wagers.
Under SRO 381, the PDD Daily Wagers in Kashmir valley has been regularized upto 2005 whereas in Jammu there was no regularization after 1997,” they explained and appealed the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, who holds the portfolio of PDD, to immediately order DPC in the Department so that posts may be made available for their absorption.
The agitating Daily Wagers dispersed after the office of Div Com assured them that their memorandum was being sent to the Government for necessary action.
