PDD daily wagers ‘Kaam Chhor Hartal’ enters 41st day

JAMMU, Jan 7: PDD daily wagers ‘Kaam Chhor Hartal” entered 41st day, here today.
The agitating workers led by Bharat Singh, Chairman, All J&K PDD Daily Wagers Union, Jammu province and Surjeet Khajuria, President assembled in the premise of SE, EM&RE Circle, Jammu and raised slogans against PDD Administration and Government for making false promises with them.
While addressing the agitating employees, Bharat Singh and Surjeet Khajuria stated that the concerned authorities have given only fake assurances as not even a single daily wager has been regularised in Jammu District.
“Even no DPC has been convened since last 3 years”, he said and urged all the daily wagers of Jammu District to regularly participate in agitation at SE Office at Panama Chowk, for expressing resentment against the department and show solidarity with the daily wagers.
Some authorities are forcing and pressurizing the daily wagers to attend their duties and in case any causality took place in the field with any daily wager, the concerned higher official will be held responsible, Khajuria added.
He said that no representative from the department has contacted or approached the agitating workers, which is raising resentment amongst them, adding that if their demands are not redressed by January 15, then they will come on roads along with their families and for any untoward incident, the administration will be responsible.
Khajuria said that in the Cabinet decision, it was decided to regularize 1087 PDL/TDLs, but only 321 daily wagers of Jammu district were regularized and 766 daily wagers are still awaiting justice.
He appealed to the concerned authorities to release pending wages before Lohri festival so as they can this festive with their families.
Bharat Singh said that the Administration has not accepted our genuine demands and forcing them to continue their strike.
Singh appealed to Power Minister Dr Nirmal Singh to personally intervene into the matter and redress the long pending demand of the daily wagers.
He appealed to all the union members to participate in the peaceful agitation and urged upon the Government to regularize all the pending daily wagers.
Among others present were General Secretary Ashwani Mehra, Press Secretary Ajay Sharma, Parveen Sharma, Gurnam Slathia, Raj Kumar, Gurdeep Singh, Suresh Singh, Bachan Lal, Abhishek Jamwal, Pardeep Jamwal, Kishore Sharma, Ranjeet Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Sonu Kumar, etc.
