PDD casual workers protest for release of pending wages

JAMMU, Apr 9: A protest demonstration under the banner of J&K PDD Need Based Casual Labourers’ Union was held today in front of the office of Chief Engineer, PDD, here at Canal Road. Click here to watch video
Hundreds of casual labourers of Power Development Department (PDD) today assembled outside the office of Chief Engineer and raised slogans in support of their demands. They urged the higher authorities of PDD to release their pending wages so that they can save their families from starvation, as they do not have any other source of income.
Addressing the protesting workers, Mohammad Gafoor Dar, State president, JKNTUF, stressed upon the authorities of PDD to release the pending wages of need based casual labourers  without any further delay.
Akhil Sharma, president, PDD Need Based Labourers’ Union and vice president, JKNTUF, while addressing the workers, demanded immediate payment of pending wages and implementation of SRO 520. He also threatened of launching the agitation if the demands of the union were not fulfilled.
