This has reference to the news item ‘No timeframe for start of work on projects announced for Patnitop, Sanasar in 2015’ DE April 25.
It is very disappointing to know that the much touted projects for development of Patnitop and Sanasar as tourist destinations are nowhere in site. The projects were supposed to compensate the loss of tourist flow due to construction of Chenani-Nashri tunnel.
If the two popular tourist destinations-Patnitop and Sanasar do not receive much Government attention, they will cease to exist on tourist map of the State and it will be a great blow to tourism sector in Jammu province.
The hoteliers, and other people associated with tourism sector will have then to fend for themselves. It is quite necessary that to be a tourist destination should have all facilities available to tourists. Road and mobile connectivity is quite necessary in this modern age. Besides, there should be great scope for recreational activities in the area. Mere natural beauty is not going to lure tourists. Patnitop and Sanasar which had emerged as favourite tourist destination may lose their existence if they remain neglected and undeveloped. Hope, the Tourism Department of the State will not allow such a thing to happen, as it is their bounden duty to promote tourist places in the State.
