REASI, Apr 13: In an order which may raise many eyebrows, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mahore has directed all Patwaris of the Sub-Division to conduct surprise inspection of schools on his behalf for necessary action against absent teachers.
“To enable outreach of monitoring activities in far flung areas, the undersigned (SDM) hereby empowers all Patwaris of the Sub-Division to conduct surprise inspection of schools on his behalf. Each Tehsildar, Naib and Patwari shall inspect at least one school each once every two weeks,” says an order, issued by SDM Mahore Yasin Choudhary.
Stating that he has found some teachers remain absent on the basis of a simple leave submitted to the Headmaster or Incharge, the SDM has further ordered that such leave application should be treated as invalid unless it is duly approved by the ZEO under his sign and stamp.
“If during any surprise inspection, any teachers on leave without the ZEO’s written approval, then he or she shall be suspended without warning,” said the order adding that reports of teacher absenteeism sent jointly by the local Numberdar, Chowkidaar and Ex-Sarpanch shall be treated as a valid basis for decision of suspension.
The SDM order further says that if any teacher is caught loitering in the market area without an acceptable reason, he/she shall be obviously suspended and severely dealt with if found engaging in additional business activities.
