Patwaris defer strike

JAMMU, June 21: After over a month-long pen-down strike, the Patwaris today deferred their agitation on the assurance of Sate Chief Secretary, BB Vyas.
In a press release issued here, All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association (AJKPA) said that after two rounds of talks with Chief Secretary in Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, wherein all the demands of the association was discussed threadbare, the leaders have decided to defer the ongoing strike as the Chief Secretary as assured that all the demands of the association will be taken up with Governor N N Vohra for redressal.
The association said that Chief Secretary on behalf of Governor N N Vohra has assured revenue officials that all their demands will be fulfilled in a time bound manner.
Meanwhile, the association leaders were also called for talks by Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Commissioner Secretary to Government Revenue Department, and both the officers assured them that their genuine demands will be fulfilled at an earliest.
The association further said that due to pen down strike of the revenue officials, general public suffered badly. Therefore, it has directed all its basic members to work in extra hours to clear the pendency work within shortest possible time.
