Patwar Association’s indefinite strike enters 29th day

JAMMU, May 6: The indefinite strike of All J&K Patwar Association entered 29th day today in support of the long pending demands of the Patwaris of the State.
The Association today accused the Government of adopting a rigid stand on the agreed demands.  Despite the repeated pleas to the concerned authorities no steps were taken till date to settle the issues, it added.
The continuous strike by the Patwaris for 29 days has hit the common man but the Government is not taking any steps to break the stalemate.
The Patwaris are demanding removal of pay disparity with retrospective effect, stoppage of direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, enhancement of PSC examination chances from four to eight, establishment of Departmental Enquiry Cell, holding of DPC of Girdawars for their promotion as Naib Tehsildar, transparency in transfer policy, re-organization of Patwar halqas, construction of  Patwar Khannas and enhancement of Scooter Allowance.
To express their solidarity with the cause all Patwaris and Girdawars of Jammu tehsil assembled at tehsil headquarters here in support of their demands and held protest demonstration and raised slogans in support of their genuine demands.
Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai district president Jammu and Sanjeev Sharma tehsil president of the Association addressed the demonstrators.
Provincial president of the Association Raman Raj Sharma also addressed the gathering . He urged the cadre to remain vigilant as Government may try to sabotage the movement.
