Patwar Association seeks intervention of PM, Governor on its demands

JAMMU, Feb 11: Highlighting the demands, the All J&K Patwar Association has urged the Prime Minister and Governor J&K to personally intervene for getting their issues resolved at the earliest.
The Association convened an emergency meeting, here today, under the chairmanship of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai, State president of the body, for threadbare discussion on the situation created due to the recent heavy snowfall across the State, implementation of Pradhan Mantri Kissan Saman Nidhi and non fulfillment of genuine demands.
Besides the State body, members of Province bodies also participated in the meeting, which observed that more time should be given to Patwaris for implementation of PM- KISSAN. All Patwaries are presently busy with rescue operations, preparation of the list of damages caused due to the recent snowfall, updation of Jammabandies, physical verification of polling stations, updation of Electoral rolls and hence implementation of newly launched Pradhan Mantri Kissan Nidhi was not practical at this time, the Association explained.
The Association further said that whenever and where ever any Central or State sponsored scheme is launched in the State, it is the Patwari who acts as a basic block for its implementation. But when the Association raises the voice for its basic rights, no one at the helm of affairs bothers to listen to them. “The files regarding demands of Association viz removal of Grade Pay anomalies, scrapping of direct recruitment of Naib Tehslldars, creation of GQ circles and Patwar Halqas and conducting timely DPCs are gathering dust in Civil Secretariat from last four years and there has been no action on the same except assurances,” the members said .
Expressing dismay over the step motherly attitude of the Government towards the Patwaris, the Patwar Association sought intervention of Prime Minister, Governor J&K, his Advisors and the Chief Secretary J&K for early fulfillment of their demands.
At the same time, the Association threatened that if no action is taken on their demands, it would have no option other to adopt agitational path.
