UDHAMPUR, Sept, 25: Agitated by another doze of obnoxious discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh regions in the recruitment of 10000 SPOs in the State, scores of Panthers Party activists led by Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia State president of the Party and other leaders took out a huge protest rally from Salathia Chowk to Dabbar here today demanding equal share of recruitment in all the three regions.
While addressing the gathering, Mankotia revealed that the BJP led Union government in the Centre had once again perpetrated injustice to the youth of Jammu and Ladakh regions by taking a decision to recruit 10000 SPOs in the Police Department and all from Kashmir. He said the Saffron Party has adopted the policy of appeasement towards the youth of Kashmir who were involved in civil unrest and other subversive acts including stone pelting, arson and violent shut downs in the ongoing turmoil.
He said that the recruitment of police personnel had been aimed to recruit such youth at the cost of suppressing the aspirations of Nationalist youth of Jammu and Ladakh province. He demanded that the aforesaid recruitment should be carried out in equal proportions in all the three regions of the State.
Taking a jibe at the Union and the State governments, Mankotia divulged that the people of Jammu and Ladakh had overwhelmingly voted BJP to power in the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections and as a result 3 MPs and 25 MLAs were returned to the Parliament and the State Legislature respectively. He said that it was a tragedy and a sheer irony that the BJP after getting huge mandate from Jammu and Ladakh regions, surrendered before the Kashmir centric leadership for the crumbs of power.
He said that the Kashmiri youth who were pelting stones on the security personnel in the Valley would be recruited as SPOs whereas the youth of Jammu and Ladakh who were carrying “Tricolour” in their hands confronting the secessionist agenda would be blatantly ignored and isolated. Mankotia said that Panthers Party would hold protests at every district headquarter and every street of Jammu province unless the Central Government revoked the draconian decision in the interest of all the three regions of the State.
