SAMBA, Aug 17: The residents of Panjtilla Samba today held a protest demonstration and blocked the border road from 9-25 am to 2 pm demanding that buses be plied on border road instead of matadors and autos which are the main cause of fatal accidents.
The protesters raising slogans against the administration warned that they will not allow matadors to ply on the border road who often violate the traffic norms and rules and put the lives of passengers to grave risk. They warned to launch a movement in case the demand was not conceded immediately.
Later the road blockade was lifted with the intervention of Dy SP Headquarters Samba Tanvir Ahmed who assured the people that their demand will be conceded and buses will ply on the border routes instead of matadors. On his assurance the protestors dispersed and traffic was allowed to ply on the road.
However the Matador Union Samba also lodged a strong protest against plying of passenger buses on border road saying this will hit their livelihood. They warned that they will not allow the plying of buses on the road and launch agitation.
Meanwhile the irate people and BJP activists staged a protest demonstration at Samba Chowk and at Dehani the native village of MLA Samba, Dr D K Manyal and blocked the Jammu- Pathankot National Highway from 9:30 am to 11: 00 am this morning in protest against the murderous assault on Dr Manyal during the cremation of the accident victim yesterday.
The protesters demanded immediate arrests of assailants responsible for murderous attack on MLA. They termed the assault on MLA a well planned conspiracy saying that the attack was based on political vendetta.
