Pandov does it again; Manik, Umar, Deepak sparkle

JAMMU, Feb 1: After helping Jammu and Kashmir to register emphatic win over formidable Punjab yesterday, Manzoor Dar, popularly known as ‘Mann Pandov’ did it again alongwith the bowling trio of speedster Umar Nazir and spinners Manik Gupta and Deepak Dogra as J&K outplayed Himachal Pradesh by 18 runs in the ongoing Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament at Nadaun in Himachal Pradesh, today.
Win this win J&K has the toped the point tally in North Zone.
Earlier, batting first, J&K riding on a power-packed knock of 34 runs off just 27 balls, studded with 3 fours and 2 massive sixes by Manzoor Dar managed to score 123 runs in the stipulated 20 overs-a fighting total considering the conditions in this part of the country. Apart from Pandov’s valuable knock, Jatin Wadhawan and Ramdayal Punia scored useful 18 and 15 runs respectively, while Mithun Manhas and Manik Gupta chipped in with 14 runs each.
For Himachal Pradesh, Akshay Chouhan took 3 wickets, while Jaswal and Mayank Dogra scalped 2 wickets each and Bipul Sharma claimed one.
In reply, J&K bowlers led by speedster Umar Nazir and leg-spinner Manik Gupta bowled in right areas to tease the rival batsmen. This bowling duo alongwith left-arm spinner Deepak Dogra and military medium Manzoor Dar restricted Himachal Pradesh to a meagre total of 105 runs, thus helping Jammu and Kashmir to win by 18 runs. For HP, Paras Dogra top scored with 25 runs, while Prashant Chopra and Ankush Bains contributed 21 and 17 runs respectively. Skipper Verma and Nikhil Gangta chipped in with 16 and 11 runs respectively.
For J&K, Umar Nazir bowled 4 overs and took 2 important wickets by conceding 12 runs, while Manik Gupta scalped 2 wickets in his 4 overs by giving away 20 runs. Deepak Dogra took 2 wickets in his 4 overs, conceding 27 runs, while Manzoor Dar gave away 27 runs in his 4 overs by claiming 2 important wickets.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Ashinder Kaul as manager and Abdul Qayoom as coach, while Mithun Manhas is the head coach, Dr Aijaz Chillu is accompanying the team as Physiotherapist, while Mushtaq Rather is the trainer. Joint Secretary of JKCA (Kashmir wing), Shiban Lal Trakroo is the match observer.
Meanwhile, Minister for Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari and the General Secretary of JKCA, Iqbal Ahmed Shah has congratulated the team for second consecutive win against formidable Himachal Pradesh.
