Pak not opening gates

There seems no rationale for Pakistani side not opening the gates at Chakkan-da-Bagh, LoC crossing point on Poonch-Rawlakot route that has been thrown open twice a week for trade and movement of men. Ten day-long firing in Krishna Ghati area by Pakistani troops and retaliation by the Indian side had finally led to Brigade Command Level Flag meeting in which commitment of stopping the firing on both sides was arrived at. This should have helped in resumption of trade and movement of human beings across the crossing point. By not opening the gates, 57 Pakistani nationals are stranded on this side of the State and about 30 Indian nationals are stranded in PoK just because Pakistan would not cooperate. We expected Pakistani side to be cooperative and committed to improving good relations. The traders do not deserve to be punished for no fault of theirs. They are ambassadors of goodwill, and deserve all appreciation for contributing to CBM between the two countries and their people. The Indian side is forced to take up the issue of unprovoked firing and its consequences including unilateral closure of the gates at indentified cross border points with the Government of Pakistan. This waywardly attitude on the part of Pakistan authorities will not help and is no guarantee to strengthening of relations.
