Talking to reporters here on the sidelines of District Development Board (DDB) meeting, the Union Minister took neighboring country to task for its misadventures against India and said that Pakistan has failed to respect the sanctity of fasting month of Ramzan which has a great religious significance in Islam.
“The Pakistan has been exposed before the whole world for its misadventures as it neither believes in Ramzan nor Islam and the teachings of the holy Quran”, Dr Jitendra Singh, said, adding  “the country which calls itself “Pakistan” is indulging in the worst kind of  “Na-Pak” activities”.
“The entire world knows and is watching this all”, he said, adding the Pakistan, which was carved out to establish a dispensation based on the principles of “holy Quran”, has proved unworthy of its avowed objective.
He said during the observance of “Roza”, (fast) every practising Muslim is forbidden from harming fellow human beings, “here we have an Islamic State which finds nothing wrong in indulging in violence and civilian killings.”
As for India, Dr Jitendra Singh said, for every single gun fire from the other side, there are multiple gun fires in retaliation from this side. Never before in the last several decades, he said, there has been such a powerful retaliatory action from the Indian side against the Pakistan firing as it is happening today, which has also resulted in heavy damage on the other side.
Giving full credit to the Indian Army and the security forces, Dr Jitendra Singh said, under the Narendra Modi Government, the forces enjoy the professional freedom to decide the nature and quantum of retaliation based on their discretion and on-the-spot assessment. “We have some of the best forces in the world, for which we are proud and also deeply indebted”, he added.
Expressing concern over the civilian casualties and damage as a result of Pakistan firing, Dr Jitendra Singh said, there can be no compensation for the loss of a human life, but, nevertheless, in its humble way, the Government will try to provide best possible assistance and relief to the victims and their families.
Later, Dr Jitendra Singh while addressing the District Development Board (DDB) meeting, which was chaired by Forest Minister, Rajiv Jasrotia, regretted that conservation of river Devika which is a prestigious project of the State has not been projected on expected lines resulting in delay in starting of work.
He urged the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur to appoint an Exclusive Nodal Officer for Devika Project who will keep liaison with officers of all concerned departments including UEED, Municipality, Irrigation etc so that there is no further delay in the completion of the Rs 170 crore project. He also stressed that the local officers be taken on board on Devika Project and meeting of all senior officers including UEED be organised within this month to discuss the progress and other modalities.
Expressing satisfaction over pace of work on Udhampur Radio Station, Dr Jitendra Singh said it is moving smoothly on expected lines.
He also urged the officers participating in the DDB meetings that complete homework should be done before taking part in the meetings so that utility of these meetings is served.
He said in case senior officers remain pre-occupied on account of other official appointments date of Board meetings should be accordingly shifted so that the legislators are not subjected to problems.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that Centre is providing liberal funds to the State and last week an allocation of Rs 3800 crore under PMGSY schemes were sanctioned for the State by Centre out of which Rs 2100 crore were earmarked for Jammu region only.
All the three MLAs from the district Udhampur including Pawan Gupta, Dina Nath Bhagat and R S Pathania participated in the meeting.
