Jammu runs to create awareness against child abuse

JAMMU, Mar 24: Little Millennium, an international Pre-School chain joined hands with Directorate of Samagra Shiksha J&K and organized a Kids Marathon under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council at Sports Stadium University of Jammu, here.
Over 2000 children participated to run against the menace of child abuse in J&K.
The children ran 100 mts, 200 mts, 400 mts, and 800 mts races in boys and girls categories.
The children of Jammu Runners Group (JRG) members also participated in the Marathon, adding colour to the event.
The event which was jointly organized by Little Millennium & Radio Mirchi was inaugurated by releasing the balloons by K. Vijay Kumar and Khurshid A Ganai, Advisors to the Governor in presence of DGP Dilbag Singh; Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Prof Manoj K Dhar; Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez; Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary; Director Sports Jammu University, Dr. Daud Iqbal; Chief Learning Officer Little Millennium Akhila Magotra, Executive Director Power Grid, DGM Indian Oil Rajesh Yadav, Sumit Kakkar Station Director Radio Mirchi with RJS Nishant & Shwetima.
Speaking after declaring the Marathon open, Advisor K Vijay Kumar appreciated the efforts of the organizers in choosing a healthy way to create awareness about the menace as the incidents of child abuse in the vulnerable age group of 2 to 10 years in our society at the national level are on the rise and our state is no exception.
He said the first step in ending the cycle of child abuse and neglect is spreading awareness and educating the public on this epidemic.
Advisor to the Governor Khurshid A Ganai while interacting with the audience commended the out of the box thinking of Director Samagara Shiksha and JK Sports State Sports Council who collaborated with the organizers to bring more than 1000 children of government schools especially girl children from economically weaker sections which is the most vulnerable group. He advised all the stakeholders to continue the momentum built by this massive event in future to eradicate the evil from the society.
Dr Arun Manhas Director Samagra Shiksha, Chief Learning officer Akhila Magotra also spoke on the occasion.
The team of RJs from Radio Mirchi lead by creative head Khushboo coordinated the event.
Mesmerizing performances were made by the little angels of Little Millennium, SNS Fitness Center and Tansen Sangeet Mahavidyalaya during the inauguration and warm up to the event on Zumba beats.
All the stakeholders resolved to end the Child abuse as it encompasses more than bruises and broken bones.
