More organizations condemn attack on Amarnath pilgrims

JAMMU, July 12: More political, social and religious organizations as well as political leaders today condemned the July 10 terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Anantnag, in which seven innocent pilgrims were killed while 32 others got injured.
Veteran Congress leader, former MP and Minister, Madan Lal Sharma, while condemning the attack on Amaranth pilgrims, demanded fool proof security for the remaining pilgrimage period. While expressing sympathies with the kin of the deceased pilgrims, Sharma demanded sufficient compensation for the deceased and wished for early recovery of the injured. Sharma also lashed out at the present State and Central Governments for their failure to check the attack despite serious threats and inputs from various intelligence agencies.
Condemning the attack, Senior PDP youth leader, Advocate Nadeem Rafiq Hussain Khan, said that the people killed in the terror attack were pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Ji yatra, which has a religious respect in heart of every individual. By targeting the innocent pilgrims, militants hurt sentiments of every individual of country and also showed their new level of low.
Hundreds of Panther activists spearheaded by their State president, Yashpal Kundal, staged a vociferous protest demonstration at Samba to condemn the brutal attack on Amarnath pilgrims. The infuriated activists amid raising anti- BJP and ant-Government slogans took out a protest march in the heart of Samba city and blocked the National highway. The protestors also torched the effigy of the State Government. Alleging that the State Government failed to control the lawlessness in the State, he said that the miscreants should be identified and booked under the law at the earliest.
Zonal president, JKNPP, Neeraj Gupta, along with the party workers and supporters held a protest demonstration and burnt the effigy of J&K Government at Transport Nagar, Jammu for its failure to check terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims. Condemning the attack, Gupta appealed for immediate imposition of Governor Rule in the State. He said that the present Government, which has failed to ensure the security of Amarnath pilgrims, has no right to remain in power.
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) strongly condemned the killings of innocent Amarnath pilgrims by staging a protest at Jewel Chowk. The protest was led by State party president, Ravi Tickoo, who urged the Centre Government to react strongly against the anti-national elements. He also expressed sympathies with the kin of the deceased pilgrims.
Condemning the attack, Indian Muslims for Secular Democracy (IMSD) said that this barbaric act is against the very grain of the Kashmir’s ethos. “Our deepest condolences are with the bereaved families”, IMSD leaders said.
The attack was also condemned strongly by Kanak Mandi Traders’ Association. In a statement, Anoop Mittal, general secretary of the association, said that a strong action should be taken and terrorist responsible for the attack should be punished.
While expressing deep sympathies with the families of the deceased and injured pilgrim, Dr Shazad Malik, Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University (SNU) strongly condemned the terror attack on Amarnath Pilgrims on Monday in Kashmir Valley. He said killing innocent civilians that too when they are on a pilgrim is the most barbaric and inhumane act.
In a programme organized at Shashi Bala Memorial Park, Directorate of Health Services Complex Jammu by Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, its president, Sushil Sudan and other members condemned the attack and paid heartfelt tribute to all the Amarnath pilgrims killed in it. Two minutes silence was also observed by the gathering for peace to the departed souls.
All J&K SC and ST Retired Employees Forum also condemned the attack in a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of its president, Prof (Dr) GL Thapa. The Forum asked the State and Central Government to provide adequate security to the tourists and Amarnath pilgrims visiting the State.
Jammu Kashmir Social Secular Awami Peace Forum organized a meeting under the chairmanship of its president, Manmohan Singh Jamwal, to condemn the cowardly attack of militants on Amarnath pilgrims. Jamwal urged upon the State as well as central Government to take harsh and stern action against such militants and their supporters in the Valley.
All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha also condemned the attack on pilgrims, in a meeting organized today under the president ship of Piran Ditta. All the members observed two-minute silence for the peace to the departed souls and prayed the Almighty to give courage to the kin of the deceased pilgrims.
A meeting of Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu, All Ladkh Muslim Student Association Jammu and Anjuman-e- Haidery New Plot was held at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah, Peer Mitha, Jammu to condemn the cowardly militant attack on Amarnath pilgrims. While speaking on the issue, president Anjuman-e-Imamia Syed Amanat Ali Shah said that it is a right time to get unite irrespective of the community because this kind of acts are not tolerated at any cost and we are shoulder to shoulder with our Hindu brethren and do whatever would be possible for making this holy Yatra of Amaranth Ji successful.
Jammu Kashmir Pahari people Movement (JKPPM) strongly condemned the killings of Amarnath pilgrims. Chief executive and general secretary of JKPPM, in a press statement, described the attack cowardly and an act against humanity. The entire Pahari community condemns this barbaric attack, they added.
Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), a religious organization of Kargil, strongly condemned the attack on Amarnath pilgrims. In a statement, IKMT said that the attack was ‘against the teachings of Islam’. The statement further added, “We believe that terrorism has no religion and condemn this act as inhuman and barbaric as well against the traditional ethos of hospitality and communal harmony of the people of Kashmir”.
Condemning the terrorist attack on Amarnath pilgrims, Yuva Rajput Sabha today held a strong protest demonstration at Press Club, Jammu, under the president ship of Rajveer Singh. They raised slogans against Pakistan and also torched an effigy of terrorism. The infuriated protestors were demanding strict action against the terrorists and their sympathizers in the State besides a once for all solution of Pakistan’s nefarious designs by teaching the rogue country a befitting reply.
The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) led by its president Sunil Dimple held a protest demonstration at New Plot, Jammu to condemn the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims. Raising slogans against Pakistan, the protestors demanded that J&K be put under Governor’s Rule as State Government has miserably failed to perform. Dimple said that taking moral responsibility of the killings of seven Amarnath pilgrims at Anantnag, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy CM Dr Nirmal Singh should resign from their positions.
J&K Batwal Welfare Association at its meeting held here today strongly condemned the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir. Association president, Sat Paul Lakhotra (former MLA) termed the terror attack as barbaric and cowardice act and demanded that the perpetrators behind the deadly assault be immediately hunt down. Association also demanded fool-proof security for pilgrims and best treatment for those injured in the attack.
