More organizations call for Jammu bandh on Nov 6

JAMMU, Nov 3: More organizations have extended active support to Jammu bandh on November 6, the opening day of Darbar Move at winter capital of the State and   appealed people to showcase unity of pro-Jammu forces.
Extending its support and solidarity for Jammu bandh call, Jammu Province People’s Forum – a conglomerate of more than 50 organizations including social, religious, traders, legal luminaries, educationist and eminent NGOs,  has made a fervent appeal to public in general and students in particular to participate enmass to make bandh a grand success.
While addressing a meeting, president JPPF Pavittar Singh Bhardwaj expressed strong resentment against callous attitude of the State and Center in imposing double Toll Tax at Lakhanpur Toll Post in gross violation of One Nation One Tax law passed by the Parliament of India. “This trend has further burdened 125 lakh population of State for no fault of theirs,” he said and urged the Prime Minister of India, Narender Modi to immediately intervene to get this draconian law redressed by winding away the Toll Post Lakhanpur. He warned that in case of failure or any further delay, people will be forced to come on streets causing law and order problems for which the Government shall be responsible.
Criticizing State Government for not declaring  public holiday on the birth anniversary of late Maharaja Hari Singh, Singh  said that Government has deliberately avoided to accede to the demand of State in general and of Jammu in particular.
Calling upon the people of Jammu to support the bandh call, Harsh Dev Singh,  JKNPP chairman and former Minister has also  appealed all sections of society to participate in the Panthers Party’s “Lalkar Rally”  on the  same day to showcase the unity of Jammu for realization of the common goal of ending age old subjugation of Dogra land.
Talking to media persons, here today, he said that rallies, bandhs and protest calls having been given by several social and political organizations on very first day of the Secretariat opening in Jammu only symbolize the people’s anger, contempt and revulsion against misrule of the present Government and its total disregard for the aspirations of the people of Jammu.
Urging upon the people to wholeheartedly support all pro Jammu initiatives taken by various sections, irrespective of their social or political connections, Singh said that united fight against Jammu’s deprivation was the need of the hour.  “Lets join a harmonious chorus rather than speaking in cacophony of voices”, he added.
Balwant Singh Mankotia, State president JKNPP and Yash Paul Kundal, State president Young Panthers were also present in the press conference.
Lambasting PDP-BJP coalition regime for betraying people of Jammu in general and unemployed youth in particular, Team Jammu has also called for complete strike on November 6 to lodge protest against discriminatory policies of the present dispensation.
Addressing a press conference, here today, Chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that every section of the society was bearing brunt of the discriminatory policies being propagated by the coalition regime but youth are the worst victims. “Selection lists of JKPSC and other recruitment bodies are glaring examples of discriminating with qualified and deserving youth of Jammu region”, he said and pointed out that during the last three years highly qualified youth of Jammu region were  facing worst ever step-motherly treatment- thanks to those at the helm of the affairs.
“Denying state holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh and decision of the State Government to stay away from Accession Day functions is an indication of pro-separatist agenda being propagated by this regime, which will not be tolerated by Jammu people,” Jamwal warned and informed that the Team Jammu has already appealed to different pro-Jammu organizations to support bandh call.
Sunil Dimple, president Jammu West Assembly Movement, has also called for Jammu bandh on November 6 in protest against the failure of the Government to restore peace in the State.  He also took out a protest march against ceasefire violations by Pakistan and appointment of an interlocutor to hold talks on J&K with all the stake holders. The protesters raised slogans against Pakistan and holding of talks with separatists. They also torched effigies of Central Government as well as State Government for their failure to crush terrorism in Jammu Kashmir.
Addressing the protesters Sunil Dimple called for the Jammu bandh on November 6 and appealed all the organizations from Lakhanpur to Banihal and from Poonch to Doda to observe complete strike.
A meeting of R S Pura Unit of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations was held in continuation to the series of meetings being held all over the State in accumulating support to State Confederation’s call to hold a symbolic protest on November 6 at Maheshpura Chowk. The meeting was presided over by  Darshan Lal Banmotra, who appealed to  members to create awareness among the masses for pressurising the Government  to get  pending demands fulfilled viz. continuation of reservation in promotions,  clearance of backlog, implementation of Mandal Commission in toto, etc.
