Organizational elections to be completed by Aug 15: PCC chief

SRINAGAR, July 15:  Congress today reviewed the primary membership drive completed at booth level in all the districts of the State. The party also started the process of holding organizational elections in the State, which will be completed by August 15 this year.
The Congress also discussed the organizational affairs and activities in all the 22 districts of the State and urged upon the rank and file of the Party to gear up for organizational elections.
A meeting of  senior  Congress  functionaries and newly appointed DROs (District Returning Officers) for conducting elections by AICC and other Party leaders was held today at Congress party headquarters, Srinagar under the chairmanship of  its president GA Mir, in which Hussain Dalwai, Pradesh Returning Officer appointed by AICC for the State was present and reviewed the enrollment of Primary Membership “completed” in all the districts of the State.
On this occasion, PCC president apprised the PRO about second phase of membership i.e the enrollment of  delegates, besides conducting organizational elections and also apprised him of the process of holding organizational elections in the State, which is to be completed by August 15. It was also decided that DROs will visit every constituency in the State to review the just completed Membership drive, enabling the party to hold Organizational elections well in time.
The PRO Hussain Dalwai expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of primary Membership drive in the State and praised Congress party leaders and workers for being enthusiastic with regard to enrollment of Membership in the State, which has been completed 100%. The meeting also discussed the measures being taken for strengthening the party more at grass roots level
Those who were present on the occasion included,  MLC Gulam Nabi Monga, MLC Mohd Muzaffar Parray, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mohd Anwar Bhat, spokesperson Farooq Andrabi,  general secretaries Surinder Singh Channi, Shameema Iqbal, G N Mir Lasjan  district presidents Abdul Gani Khan, Zahid Hussain Jan, Qayoom Shah, Imtiyaz Parray, GM Mir, Rehman Magrey, District Returning Officers and others senior party functionaries were present in the meeting.
