Opposition should cooperate in defusing situation: Dy CM

JAMMU, July 16: The prevailing situation in Kashmir Valley and steps to be taken for its normalization was the main focal point of discussion during BJP’s Core Group meeting held here today.
The meeting which was held at Gandhi Nagar here under the chairmanship of its president Sat Sharma (CA) took stock of developments arisen after the ongoing unrest in Valley and smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Yatra.
Soon after the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh told reporters that prevailing situation and steps to be taken for the restoration of peace in Kashmir valley were discussed threadbare.
He said meeting also discussed role of BJP in brining normalcy to strife torn Valley and resuming of the Swami Amarnath yatra which has been suspended for last three days.
Making a dig at opposition for criticizing the BJP for prevailing situation in the Valley, he said opposition should recall 2010 violence in Kashmir when many killings took place. He said subversives attack the security forces  taking cover of mob.
Deputy CM said Union Home Ministry has extended full support to State Government in tackling situation. Dr Singh while making a dig at opposition said instead of criticizing the Government and wasting time in making allegations the opposition should cooperate in defusing situation.
Dr Singh also denied that Government had delayed action after killing of dreaded terrorist Burhan Wani on July 8 and said there was abrupt reaction on very first day and deaths which took place were the result of injuries suffered by the mob during first day of violence. Later, situation was brought under control, he added.
The Deputy CM said there is threat perception as terrorist groups form Pak are trying to sneak. Pakistan is directly involved in creating trouble in State and Pak PM was also backing subversives, he added.
He said minorities have been given security at Valley and there was no report any where that any person of minority community or Amarnath yatris were attacked.
BJP in a handout issued later said the meeting was attended by Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, BJP National Vice-president & J&K Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna, national secretary Farooq Khan, Dy. CM Dr. Nirmal Singh, Members of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma and Shamsher Singh Manhas, Industries & Commerce Minister Chander Prakash Ganga, Health Minister Bali Bhagat, MLC Ashok Khajuria, State general secretary (Organization) Ashok Kaul, State general secretaries Dr. Narinder Singh, Pawan Khajuria and Harinder Gupta.
Avinash Rai Khanna, while speaking in the meeting, said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir have to defeat the evil designs of anti-national elements, who have vitiated peaceful atmosphere in State, particularly in Kashmir valley, which has also disturbed the annual yatra of Shri Amarnath Ji. He said that the party at national level too is keeping eye on whole situation and the Union Government has also ensured to provide every kind of help to State Government for restoring peace and normalcy.
Sat Sharma, on behalf of the State unit of BJP, appealed people of Kashmir in particular to maintain peace and harmony and extend every possible help in ensuring that there is no further violence or law & order problem. He said that such situations affect normal life and people who are dependent on daily earnings for survival are badly hit.
Dr. Jitendra Singh briefed about discussions held during the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent high level meeting on Kashmir and told that the Union Government is keeping vigil on the developments in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that review meetings on daily basis are held at New Delhi to discuss the latest situation in State.
