Oppn stays away during discussion on Budget in LC

JAMMU, Jan 15: The discussion on Budget proposal 2018-19 presented by Minister of State for Finance Ajay Nanda, begin in the Upper House today in which several members participated, but opposition stayed away.
Initiating the discussion, Surinder Ambardar, advocated for measures restoration of peace and tranquillity in the State, while stating that peace is imperative for development. He also hailed the decision of regularisation of 60000 casual and daily wagers by the Government. Ambardar called for extending full benefits of Centrally and State sponsored welfare schemes to the displaced migrant population so that they may also get benefits of these schemes.
Surinder Kumar Choudhary, while welcoming the Budget as pro-people and beneficial to all the section of society, said that it should be implemented in letter and spirit to achieve the desired results. He said that the impact of the development process started by the Coalition Government has become visible on the ground. He, however, urged the Government to make a special provision for compensating the farmers whose crops get damaged due to Pakistan shelling in border areas.
While taking part in the discussion, MLC Mohammad Khursheed Aalam praised the Budget as people-friendly, covering all sections of the society. He said implementation of 7th Pay Commission and the regularization of casual workers will benefit the society to a large extent. He called for extending the benefits of regularization policy to the public sector employees also.
Charanjeet Singh hailed the decision of Finance Minister to enhance the daily wages of labour class and also stressed upon all shades of the opinions to work collectively for peace and tranquillity of the State.
Vikram Randhawa appreciated the Budget for introducing Pay and Accounts office (PoA) to bring transparency in the system. He also appreciated Government proposal of treating hotels at par with other industries by offering the power tariff in accordance with the industry sector. He said the move would boost the economy of State and create more job avenues for unemployed youth in the sector. He also appreciated earmarking of funds for the orphanage and old age homes and demanded that the amount should be enhanced and utilised properly.
Sofi Mohammad Yousuf, also hailed Government for resolving the long pending issues of the daily wagers and termed the Budget as people friendly. He also commended the centre Government for providing the liberal funding and special attention for holistic development of the state. He sought enhancement of monthly relief being provided to the displaced communities.
G L Raina, also appreciated the Finance Minister and his team for presenting the people friendly Budget. He demanded proper utilisation of funds so that people should be benefitted.
