JAMMU, Jan 22: State BJP spokesperson, Prof. Virender Gupta asked the Opposition parties to have a glance on their failures during the period they ruled the State, before raising fingers on the performance of PDP-BJP alliance Government.
In a statement issued here, today most of the projects which were envisaged and started during their period did not meet their end, even after lapse of several years of their rule because of slow pace of development and the rampart corruption that was prevalent during their rule. He added that responsibility of their completion has fallen on the present government which is vigorously engaged to complete them in the minimum possible time. While citing the examples, he mentioned the projects like Ambphalla-Janipur Flyover project, Artificial Lake Project, Bahu Fort Cable Car Project, Patnitop Rope Way Project, Sewerage Project, Chanab Drinking Water Project for Jammu city, computerization of land records, widening of Jammu–Akhnoor Highway etc.
He said that Ambphalla-Janipur flyover project was supposed to start in the year 2003 with the funding from Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project of sewerage drainage for the old city was commissioned in 2006 with the sanction of Rs 129 crore; Patnitop Rope Way Project was planned to start in 2007; Bahu Fort Cable Car Project was envisaged in 2002 during Chief Ministership of Mufti Mohammad Sayed in 2002; the Artificial Lake Project was the brain child of the former Governor of the State, Mr. Jagmohan and it started in 2008-09 with the target of its completion in 2012; the project of providing car parking facilities in Jammu City, was initiated in 2006. Whereas work on Jammu-Akhnoor Highway was initiated in 2002.
He said that it is during the PDP-BJP Government that all these projects are being paid due attention and the work on them has started with fast pace or going to start within the month of March and April, 2018.
