One killed, three injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Mar 13: A person was killed while three others were injured in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a 19-year-old youth identified as Vishal (19) son of late Ashok Kumar Bhat, resident of Jagti Colony (Nagrota), sustained serious injuries late last night when a scooty number JK01AB-8906 on which he was travelling, was hit by a speeding oil tanker bearing registration number JK02AD-2485 near Rajan Bar, Nagrota on National Highway.
“The injured youth was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead”, the spokesman said, adding, the Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused tanker driver, who was identified as Karan Singh son of Amar Singh, resident of Jhajjar Kotli. “After postmortem, the body of the deceased was today handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, he further added.
Meanwhile, a mother and her young daughter were injured today when their scooty on which they were going on, was hit by a mini-bus near Government Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu. The injured were identified as Shriya (18) daughter of Dinesh Mahajan of Trikuta Nagar and her mother, Arti (38). An unknown man of age about 30 years got injured this evening when a car which he was rashly driving, turned turtle at Bantalab in Nagrota area. All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. In both cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
