One killed, three injured as truck hits multiple vehicles

JAMMU, Oct 21: One person was killed while three others were injured this morning when a truck hit multiple vehicles at Narwal Mandi due to failure of its brakes.
According to a police official, due to failure of its brakes, a truck bearing registration number PB03D-9257, which was loaded with vegetables, first hit a load carrier and killed on the spot its driver and then hit two other vehicles including a Wagon-R car, leaving three persons including a pedestrian injured.
The deceased man was identified as Ram Ditta (40) son of Shailo Ram, resident of Ismailpur (Nagbani, tehsil Marh) while the injured persons were identified as Rakesh Kumar (35) son of Subash Kumar of Digiana, Tilak Raj (33) son of Bishan Dass of Digiana and Manjeet (40) son of Sadhu Ram, resident of Karyal Chowk, Punjab.
The body of the deceased and the injured persons were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after completing all medico-legal formalities the deceased’s body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while the injured persons were being provided needed treatment.
The Narwal police had registered a case in this connection and seized the truck involved in the accident while the accused driver was also arrested.
