One killed, seven injured in tipper-mini bus collision

JAMMU, May 11: One person was killed while seven others were injured in the collision of a mini-bus and a tipper in Domana area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a rashly driven tipper bearing registration number JK02AQ-8220, which was loaded with bricks and was on its way to Jammu hit a mini-bus number JK02AL-7080 coming from opposite direction, on Jammu-Akhnoor Road near Army Gate.
“The mishap occurred this evening at about 5 pm when the tipper driver was trying to overtake a vehicle”, the spokesman said, adding, a young girl identified as Reena Rani (24) daughter of Bishan Dass, resident of Dub Karandin (Kanachak) was killed on the spot while seven others sustained injuries in the mishap.
He said that all the injured were taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment while the body of the deceased girl was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem to be conducted tomorrow.
The injured persons were identified as Maharaja Krishan Bhat (50) of Domana, Kamlesh (30) of Bihar (at present Janipur), Mangat Ram (26) son of Hans Raj of Mishriwala, Nitanjai (24) son of Jitender Patel of Bihar (at present Janipur), Deepak (26) son of Kala Ram of Mishriwala, Kaviraj (35) son of Sukhram, resident of Pakhiyaan (Mishriwala) and Ashwani Kumar (17) son of Des Raj of Mishriwala.
“Doman police has registered a case in this connection and started investigation while both the vehicles involved in the mishap have also been seized”, he added.
