One killed, seven injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Feb 22: A man was killed while seven others were injured in separate road mishaps occurred in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a 26-year-old youth namely Vijay Kumar son of Raghbir Lal, resident of Dablehar (RS Pura), sustained serious injuries when a Alto car bearing registration number JK02AU-0709, which he was driving, hit a roadside wall and then a pole at Viaspur in Arnia area.
He said that the mishap occurred late last night when the driver lost control over the steering. “The seriously injured youth was immediately rushed to Government Hospital RS Pura, but in view of his serious condition doctors there referred him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, the spokesman said, adding, Arnia police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations while body of the deceased was today handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem.
Another mishap occurred today at Bhagwati nagar, where a speeding Alto car rammed into a road divider near Tawi Bridge. In the mishap, driver of the vehicle namely Waqar Ahmed (26) son of Sher Mohd, resident of Mahore (Reasi) got injured. He was shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment.
At Parade Chowk, a rashly driven car hit and injured a pedestrian namely Harsh Gulati (20) son of Sushil Gulati, resident of Rehari Colony. The injured was hospitalized. A 22-year-old youth identified as Sahil son of Krishan Kumar resident of Panjtirthi, received injuries when the scooty on which he was travelling, got slipped on Jammu University Road. He was also shifted to GMCH for treatment.
A couple was injured when a bike on which they were going on, was hit by a tipper at Muthi. The injured were identified as Kuldeep Mangotra (45) son of late Bihari Lal, resident of Shakti Nagar (Jammu) and her wife, Pinky (35). Both were hospitalized.
At Nagrota near Bantalab Toll Plaza, a Wagon-R Car collided with a truck, resulting into injuries to two occupants of the car. The injured identified as Dr Vishal Khanna (34) son of Surinder Kumar of Lower Roop Nagar and his wife, Dr Anjli Sharma (30) were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
