RAMBAN, Aug 8: An old man was killed today in a road mishap in Chanderkot area while the dead body of an unknown man was recovered from Digdol nallah.
According to police sources, a pedestrian identified as Balak Ram (70-75) son of Shibu Ram, resident of Chanderkot, was hit and seriously injured by a rashly driven truck bearing registration number JK02BT-4079 at Chanderkot, this afternoon.
They said that the injured man was immediately shifted to District Hospital (DH) Ramban. However, doctors there referred him to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, but the man died on way to GMC near Chenani. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of DH Ramban fro post-mortem while police had registered a case in this connection.
Meanwhile, today at about 6.30 pm, some passersby spotted the dead body of an unknown middle-aged male at Digdol nallah. They informed the police, which reached the spot and shifted the body to mortuary room of DH Ramban for identification/postmortem. In this connection, police had initiated inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC.
