JAMMU, June 29: A man was killed on the spot when a speeding truck hit the scooter he was riding on, at Bawe Talab on Jammu-Akhnoor Road.
According to SHO police station Kanachak, Inspector Rakesh Singh Jamwal, the accident happened this evening about 7.30 pm on Jammu-Akhnoor Road, when the truck bearing registration number PB06-2936 coming from Akhnoor, hit a scooter coming from opposite side and fled from the scene of crime. In the mishap, the scoter driver identified as Surinder Kumar (33) son of Krishan Lal, a resident of Akhnoor, received serious injurious and died on the spot.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after conducting post mortem tomorrow it will be handed over to family members of the deceased.
After registering a case in this regard Kanachak police acted swiftly and arrested the accused truck driver from Domana and also seized the truck.
