One killed, four injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Feb 15: A woman was crushed to death by a tractor-trolley at Channi while four persons were injured today in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a woman pedestrian identified as Kamla Devi (42) wife of Chaman Lal, resident of Qasim Nagar (Narwal), sustained serious injuries when near PNB Bank at Sector 1 Channi Himmat, she was ran over by a speeding tractor-trolley, the brakes of which had allegedly failed.
“The grievously injured woman was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, the spokesman said, adding after completing all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites. He said that a case had been registered against the tractor driver, who was on large and his vehicle seized.
Meanwhile, three persons were injured when a bus bearing registration number JKO2AJ-8145 hit another bus of registration number JK021C-0449 on Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway at Domana near Army gate. The injured were identified as Madhu Kumari (16) daughter of Hans Raj, resident of Bhagwan Chak, Pallanwala and drivers of two buses namely Vijay Kumar (65) son of late Hem Raj, resident of Barnai (Jammu) and Vijay Singh (35) son of Parkash Singh, resident of Jourian. They were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
In this connection, Domana police had registered a case FIR No 54/2017 under Sections 279, 337 RPC and seized both the vehicles involved in the mishap.
In another incident, a man identified as Prem Nath (48) son of Ram Rakha, resident of Miran Sahib, got injured when a bike on which he was travelling, was hit by an Alto car near Airport at Satwari. The injured was shifted to GMCH for treatment and concerned police had taken cognizance in the matter.
