One killed, five injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Jan 1: A 19-year-old youth was killed while five others were injured in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a youth identified as Manjeet Kumar (19) son of Bua Ditta, resident of Bomal (Jourian), was on way back to his home from Jammu on his scooty bearing registration number JK02BS-0713, when around 11.45 last night an unknown vehicle hit his two-wheeler at Purkhoo and left him seriously injured.
Manjeet was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was today handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. The Kanachak police had registered a case in this connection.
At Domail area falling under the limits of Jhajjarkotli police station, a bus hit a car and injured two passengers of the car, who were identified as Karnail Singh (60) son of Kaka Singh and Krish (11) son of Dheeraj Singh, both residents of Ramgarh.
A motorcyclist and his pillion rider received serious injuries when their two-wheeler got slipped at Bishnah. The injured persons were identified as Deepak Mital (30) son of Sewa Ram and Sumit Kumar (20) son of Babu Ram, both residents of RS Pura.
A pedestrian identified as Harinder (25) resident of Channi suffered injuries when he was hit by a Swift car at Channi.
All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. In all cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
