One killed, five injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Jan 2: One person was killed while five others were injured today in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police official, a youth identified as Mukesh Kumar (29) son of Sansar Chand, resident of Mera Mandrian (Akhnoor) received serious injuries this evening when a bike bearing registration number JK02BD- 4695 on which he was travelling, was hit by a rashly driven tractor on Jammu-Akhnoor road near Mishriwala petrol pump.
“The blood-ridden youth was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, he said, adding, body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Kanachak and investigations initiated.
Meanwhile, five persons including two children were injured when a van in which they were travelling, was hit by a speeding CRPF truck at Nagrota. The injured persons were identified as Rakesh (45) son of Ram Krishan, his wife, Sonia (40), their children, Saiman (6) and Pargyan (3), and Vicky Kumar (20) son of Madan Lal, all residents of Katra. All of them were hospitalized. The Nagrota police had taken cognizance of the matter.
