One killed, five injured in road accidents

JAMMU, May 17: One person was killed while five others were injured today in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, two youth identified as Nazakat Ali (28) son of Saif Din Rather, resident of Gwarhi, tehsil Gandoh, district Doda, and Amir Hussain son of Ashiq Hussain, resident of Doda, sustained serious injuries when a speeding bike bearing registration number JK02T-8997 on which were they were going on, rammed into the divider of the road at Qasim Nagar.
Both the injured were immediately rushed to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, where Nazakat Ali was declared as brought dead by the doctors whereas Amir was responding to the treatment. The body of Nazakat was shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, for post mortem.
In this connection, a case FIR No 51/2017 under Section 279, 337 RPC was registered at police station Bagh-e-Bahu.
Another mishap occurred at Khour where two bikes collided resulting into injuries to their riders. The injured were identified as Pankaj Sharma (18) son of Tilak Chand Sharma and Rajat Sharma (18) son of Ramesh Lal, both residents of Khour. They were shifted to Government Hospital, Khour, from where they were later referred to GMCH Jammu. Khour police had taken cognizance of the matter.
Two lady Constables of J&K traffic police suffered injuries when a scooty on which they were travelling, was hit by a rashly driven car at Amphalla Chowk. The injured cops were identified as Rafiqa Bano (Belt No 772/IR15) wife of Javed Iqbal, resident of Banihal and Kanta Devi (Belt No 713/IR15) wife of Jatinder, resident of Billawar. Both the lady cops were presently residing in police quarters near Gulshan Ground and were deputed at Amphalla Chowk. They were shifted to GMCH for treatment. The concerned police had taken cognizance.
