One killed, eight injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Jan 30: One person was killed while eight others were injured in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a bike-borne youth was seriously injured while two occupants of an auto also received injuries when a speeding truck bearing registration number HP19B-2437, which was on its way from Narwal to Kunjwani, hit their vehicles at Sainik Colony, this evening.
All the injured identified as Abdul Qayoom (27) son of Noor Alam, a resident of Nagrota (Udhampur), Mohd Yousuf (35) son of Mohd Kala of Vijaypur and Abdul Latif (45) son of Mahmood, a resident of Parmandal, were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu. However, the seriously injured Abdul Qayoom succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
The concerned police has registered a case under relevant Sections against the truck driver, who fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle. The truck has been seized by the police.
Three girls also suffered injuries when an unknown car hit the scooty, they were travelling on, at Jeevan Nagar near Satwari. The injured girls has been identified as Harmeet Kour (19) daughter of Satvir Singh, a resident of Rehari, Wrinkle (20) daughter of Nand Lal of Rehari and Tania (19) daughter of Suresh Kumar of Pratapgarh.
A 6-year old boy namely Kana Sharma son of Ravi Sharma of Karwanda received injuries after being hit by a bike at Bhalwal area of city outskirts.
In another road mishap at Sari near Bohri, an 11-year old boy namely Yogesh Pandit son of MK Pandit of Sari was injured, when he was hit by a school vehicle at Sari.
All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. In all cases, the concerned police has taken cognizance.
