KATHUA, Oct 21: One person was killed in a road accident at Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Hiranagar while another is battling for his life in GMC&H Jammu.
According to police, two car borne youth who were on way from Kathua to Jammu this morning met an accident at Hiranagar as the driver of the car failed to control the vehicle which was in high speed and it hit a divider of National Highway near Hiranagar resulting in the instant death of one inmate of the car.
He was identified as Toshim Mohammed, son of Shakir Ahmed of Muzafarnagar, UP.
The driver of the car who was identified as Mushtaq Ahmed S/o Bashir Ahmed of Srinagar Kashmir received grievous injuries and he was shifted to GMC&H Jammu in a serious condition where he is battling for his life when last reports came in.
The eye witness said that the car was in high speed and it turned turtle after hitting the divider with the result Toshim died on spot.
Hiranagar Police has contacted the family members of Toshim and the postmortem of the dead body will be carried out tomorrow after their arrival.
The Hiranagar police has registered a case under section 304/279 RPC.
The dead body has been kept in mortuary of SDH Hiranagar.
