JAMMU, Jan 3: One person was killed and nine others were injured when a mini bus they were travelling in, turned turtle here near MLAs’ hostel.
“A speedily driven mini-bus bearing registration number JKO2AL-4459 which was on its way from Prade to Paloura turned turtle this afternoon, when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a turn near MLAs’ hostel behind Civil Secretariat”, SHO Bus Sand, Inspector Ravi Kant said.
The officer said that the conductor of the mini-bus, who was identified as Manjeet Singh (25), son of Kamal Singh, resident of Reasi, was killed on the spot while nine passengers including six women, a young girl and two children were injured in the mishap.
“On getting information, police reached the spot and shifted the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment and the body of the deceased to mortuary room of the hospital”, the SHO said, adding they have registered a case in this connection and seized the mini-bus while a manhunt is on to nab the absconding driver.
He informed that the injured were identified as Ravinder Kour (58) wife of Bhola Singh, resident of GMC Hostel (Jammu), Geeta (35) wife of Tilak Raj, resident of Chinore, Archana (45) wife of Sanjay Raina, resident of Janipur, Dimple (33) wife of Kuldeep Kashyap and her one year-old son namely Vibaan, Neetu Mehra (28) daughter of Janak Dass of Rehari, Rudhar (10) son of Tilak Raj of Chinore, Harbeen Kour (45) wife of Inderpal of Rehari and Kamla Devi (40) wife of Charan Dass of Lower Roop Nagar, Jammu.
