REASI, Aug 17: One person was killed, while 20 others were injured when the mini-bus they were traveling in rolled down into gorge near Kakriyal on Katra-Domail road, falling under the jurisdiction of Katra Police Station. Click here to watch video
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK08A-9957 was on its way from Katra to Domail, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into deep gorge near Kakriyal, resulting into injuries to 21 persons traveling in the mini-bus.
After getting information, a team from Katra Police Station rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. A team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station also assisted in the rescue operation.
All the injured persons were rushed to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Hospital Kakriyal, where doctors declared one of the injured persons as brought dead, while the other injured persons were responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
The deceased has been identified as Jai Karan Sharma (40) of Ghagwal, District Samba, at present SMVDU Katra, while the injured have been identified as Mintu, Palak, Aryan, Nitika, Yamin, Kuldeep Singh, Neha, Nishant, Anju Devi, Renu Devi, Varun, Akhil, Anju, Saket, Rupansh, Vibansh Raina, Uttam Singh and Arun Kumar. Identify of two injured persons was yet to be ascertained.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Katra Police Station and investigation started.
