KATHUA, Nov 28: One person was seriously injured in a group clash in border village of Banyari in Hiranagar Tehsil of Kathua district over the land dispute this morning.
According to reports ex -Sarpanch, Banayri, Rakesh Chowdhary who had constructed a big cow shed over a land in the village which was previously occupied by Territorial Army (TA)  was working in the cow shed this morning. Suddenly a group of Gujjars led by Makhan Din attacked him with lathis inflicting serious injuries on his person.

He was immediately rushed by the locals to the Sub District Hospital Hiranagar for treatment where after giving him emergency treatment, the doctors referred him to GMC Jammu. His condition is stated to be serious.
The Makhan Din and his accomplice fled from the village later.
Taking serious exception to highhandedness of Makhan Din the people of the village held a demonstration and blocked Kote Punnu Harya Chak border road for entire day. The protestors including men, women and children also torched two motor cycles and tension prevailed in the entire area.
To defuse the situation, DC Kathua, Rohit Khajuria, SSP Kathua, Suleman Choudhary and other senior police and civil officers rushed to the spot along with a police team from Hiranagar.
The DC ordered demarcation of disputed land and warned that no encroachment will be allowed on State land. The Hiranagar police has also started a manhunt to arrest Makhan Din and his associates.
Tehsildar Hiranagar, Gaurav Sharma told Excelsior that the situation is under control as senior officers including DC and SSP Kathua rushed to the spot soon after the matter was brought in their notice. They pacified both the parties and issued orders for demarcation of disputed land.
The Hiranagar Police has also registered FIRs against both the parties.  A police team ahs been deployed in the village.
