One day free cataract screening camp held

UDHAMPUR, Oct 20: One day free cataract screening camp was organized by Rotary Club Udhampur in collaboration with Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital Udhampur.
In the said camp 210 patients were examined and out of which 48 were screened for implantation of IOL. The camp was organized under the Rotary initiative for prevention of blindness supported by Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and Rotary Club of Jackson Township (Belden Village).
Prof P L Suri, president Rotary Club Udhampur and Er D N Sharma, Chairman Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur along with Dr M  K Yadav, senior eye surgeon Rotary Eye hospital and other paramedical staff of the Hospital participated in the camp. The members of the Rotary Club Udhampur extended heartfelt thanks to Sham Lal Khajuria who has organized the said camp and provided food to all the patients and their attendants.
Rotary Club Udhampur committed, that Rotary will continue to organize such more camps in rural and backward areas of J & K State to prevent the preventable blindness from the J & K State so that poor people will be benefited.
The Project was started in the year 2012 and till date 7770 patients were examined and out of which 689 patients were operated for implantation of Intra Ocular and 46 more patients will be operated on October, 29, 2014 and with that the total figure of patients who are benefitted under that program will go up to 735 patients.
