JAMMU, Feb 14: A man was arrested today with poppy straw here from Indira Chowk.
“During naka checking at Indira Chowk, a team of police from police station Bus Stand intercepted a man namely Firdous Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed, resident of tehsil Berwah (Budgam) and on his personal checking recovered 480 gm of poppy straw from his possession”, a police spokesman said.
He said that the man was arrested on the spot and poppy straw recovered from his possession seized while a case FIR No 14/2017 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against him at police station Bus Stand.
The arrest was made by a police team led by Inspector Ravi Kant, SHO, police station Bus Stand, under the supervision of SDPO City, Vivek Sharma and SP City North, Vinod Kumar.
