JAMMU, Feb 25: Sarwal police achieved a breakthrough in a theft case at Samsung Showroom at New Plot with the arrest of a member of ‘Shutter Katwa’ gang from Bihar, who also identified his associate involved in this theft case.
As per police sources, on February 8, a complaint was lodged with police post Sarwal by Rahul Bamba, owner of Samsung Showroom at New Plot stating that some unidentified persons barged into his showroom and decamped with around 40 mobile phones and accessories.
Acting over the complaint, a case under relevant Sections was registered at police station Bakshi Nagar and manhunt was launched to nab the thieves.
During the course of investigation, police checked the CCTV footage and came to know that the thieves stayed in a hotel at Jewel, the sources added.
The police team visited the hotel and came across a mobile number, which the thieves had entered in the visitor’s book of the hotel. The police collected the Call Detail Record (CDR) and arrested Daleep, son of Prem Shah, a resident of Bihar from Bihar.
“Daleep is a member of Shutter Katwa gang’, sources said, adding that Daleep identified the thieves involved in the theft at Samsung Showroom at New Plot.
The burglars have been identified as Shamshu Din, his son Mohammad Aman, Muslim Mian and Rohit, all residents of Biltha Chowk, a hamlet in Bihar near Indo-Nepal border.
Daleep during questioning disclosed that the accused had hired a rented accommodation in New Delhi and accordingly police conducted raid there, but the accused had left that place few days back. From the room, police recovered Samsung charger, goggles and shoes.
The sources added that after committing the theft in Jammu on February 8, the same gang conducted theft in Madhya Pradesh on February 11 and in Punjab on February 14, as teams from these two States also met the Jammu police during raid in New Delhi.
Further questioning of the Daleep is going on.
Police team led by Incharge Sarwal police post ASI Kali Charan made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Ashwani Sharma, SDPO Wewst Nikhil Rasgotra and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
