JAMMU, Dec 3: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today said that enhancement of tertiary medicare facilities in the Super Specialty Hospitals would relieve the patients with critical nature ailments of travelling outside the State for the latest treatment.
“We are endeavouring to provide best quality modern super specialty treatment in these hospitals”, he said adding that upgradation process of various Government hospitals is under implementation and all hospitals at the twin cities, districts, blocks including PHCs have been strengthened during the last about five years to universally better health care treatment.
Inspecting functioning of various units of Jammu Super Specialty Hospital at Rashemghar here this afternoon, the Chief Minister said that upto the mark health care facilities to people in the State is the stupendous agenda being carried forward by his Government with a commitment.
The Chief Minister said that medical science is in continuous process of revolution, and upgradation of treatment facilities with introduction of newer technology and gadgets is unending. “We have to try our best to provide latest treatment to the patients at primary, secondary and tertiary levels for which qualified faculty, latest equipment and medicines hold the key for success”, he said and mentioned the measures his Government has taken in this direction.
The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din visited various disciplines in the hospital and received the brief about the functioning of these units in 220-bed capacity Super Specialty Hospital constructed at a cost of Rs. 127 crore. About Rs. 8 more crore are being spent on various ongoing works.
The Chief Minister interacted with patients and enquired the status of treatment as well as the status of functioning of various units. He interacted with the specialists and got brief about the services being provided to the patients in various units which have been opened in the hospital.
Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din while giving resume of the nature of activities being performed by the Hospital at present, highlighted the need for earmarking some funds for the Ventilators, Cardiology and Urology equipments. He said new disciplines for indoor facilities including Neurosurgery, Neurology, Gastroenterology and Endocrinology are being shortly opened in the Super Specialty Hospital.
The Chief Minister inspected the latest equipment installed in CTVS and ICU units. He also inspected the functioning of CT Scan, TMT and other equipments in various diagnostic labs.
The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Riyaz Zarger while giving brief about the functioning of the hospital said that OPD services are being provided in the Hospital in the disciplines of Nephrology, Cardiology, CTVS, Urology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Gastroenterology and Endocrinology while the indoor facilities are available in the disciplines of Nephrology, Urology, CTVS, ICU and Diagnostics.
