Oil companies organize ‘Fuel Efficient Driving Contest’

JAMMU, Jan 28: Oil Marketing companies—BPL, IOCL and HPCL, organized a “Fuel Efficient Driving Contest” in Jammu city to propagate the message of fuel conservation among the people. The contest was won by Shri Prakash, who was driving vehicle number JK02BL-4599.
In this mega event, 20 similar cars (Toyota Innova) participated. The rally started from Bharat Petroleum Retail Outlet, Police Parivaar, Gulshan Ground and encircled the entire Jammu city via Narwal, Channi NH, Greater Kailash, Kunjwani Chowk, Satwari Chowk, Gandhinagar Hospital and culminated back at Police Parivaar Retail outlet. The winner of the contest was selected on the basis of minimum fuel used for the route.
The event started with taking a pledge regarding conservation of fuel in various spheres of life. Under the slogan of “Saksham”, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas is celebrating a month long nationwide campaign to conserve oil through its three oil marketing companies namely BPCL, IOCL and HPCL. Those present were also apprised about various techniques to save fuel during daily driving.
The fleet of vehicles was flagged off by VK Singh (Additional Director General of Police, HQ Jammu and Kashmir). SA Watali (IG, Traffic/Armed) and Alok Kumar (DIG, Armed), were also present.
Rajesh Sharma, Territory Manager, BPCL, while speaking on occasion, stressed upon the need to conserve oil to avoid “fuel starvation” for the coming generations. The winners of the event were later handed over prizes jointly by SA Watali and Alok Kumar in the presence of Hari Anupam, State level Coordinator and Surinder Dogra, Krishan Singh and Ajay Singh from BPCL, IOCL and HPCL, respectively.
With an average fuel consumption of 16.04 Km per litre Shri Prakash (Vehicle No JK02BL-4599) was declared as the first winner. The second and third winners were Kishore Kumar (JK14C-1150) and Mukesh Kumar (JK02BJ-9670), respectively. Three In and Out shopping Vouchers worth Rs 15000 were disbursed among the winners by the dignitaries.
