NYC employees start hunger strike

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Sept 1: Hundreds of National Youth Corps (NYC) today began their 72 hours long hunger strike over non-implementation of Cabinet order regarding their adjustment in State Education Department.
The NYC employees assembled at Pratap Park here and started their hunger strike amidst intermittent protests throughout the day. The employees, who were deployed in 2010 under national NYC scheme, are demanding the implementation of Cabinet decision number 192/CIR/2014 dated 22-10-2014 and Secretary Education vide order number 737-EDU of 2014.
The above orders state that 6000 NYC should be adjusted as Contingent Workers (CWs) in School Education Department against the vacancies available in newly 800 upgraded schools.
The employees said they recently met People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti and she assured them that the order would be implemented within days.
