JAMMU, Nov 30: J&K Nurses Association today highlighted their demands including removal of pay anomaly.
Addressing a press conference here today, Shahbir Ahmad Jeelani, State president of the association said that they are placed in the pay scale of 5200-9300 with grade pay of 2400 whereas their counterparts in SKIMS Hospital are getting pay scale of 9300-34800 with grade pay of 4200 while their job, nomenclature, nature of work and qualification required remaining the same.
He demanded the Government to remove this anomaly of pay prior to the implementation of 7th Pay Commission failing which they will be left with no option except proceeding on State wide strike.
Jeelani said it is a matter of concern that quantitative requirement components of IMC (i.e. one nurse for four beds) is not being adhered to in J&K which adversely affect the quality and efficiency of health delivery system on one hand and increases the work load of nursing staff many fold on the other hand.
He said that for improvement of health delivery system, we demand that recommendation of IMC be implemented in the letter and spirit and till that creation/upgradation of post of various levels be done.
Jeelani further said that nurse is the only category of medical employees which is exposed to prolonged contact with patients suffering from contagious diseases specially HIVM, Swine Flu and other communicable diseases but it is unfortunate that they are not even provided adequate preventive logistics like gloves, masks, vaccines and sanitizers.
