More number of Contractual Lecturers threaten to go on fast unto death

JAMMU, Mar 14: As the ongoing protest dharna by the Contractual Lecturers (10+2) entered into 29th day today and more number of the agitators has threatened to convert their chain hunger strike into fast-unto death.
The agitating Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil services Special Provision act 2010 -a policy framed for the regularization of all the ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidate employees after rendering seven years of services.
One of the senior contractual lecturer, Vinod Kumar, who is on fast unto death since February 14 and he was shifted to GMC Jammu on last Thursday in view of his critical condition, is still continuing his hunger strike in the hospital while another Contractual Lecturer    Seema Rajput has converted her chain hunger strike into fast unto death since March 12.
Other Contractual Lect-urers, namely  Fozia Bhat,  Gulshan Singh and  Surinder Kumar, who are on chain hunger strike, have also threatened to go on fast unto death if their  demands are not conceded at an earliest.
Meanwhile, addressing the protest dharna, Arun Bakshi- State president of (10+2) Contractual Lecturers Forum, appealed the Government not to be adamant and adopt a sympathetic approach to settle the genuine demand of highly educated Contractual Lecturers.
