LEH, June 29:   The National Secular Forum (NSF) today held a day long convention at Leh wherein number of  issues pertaining to youth community of Ladakh were discussed and taken up for consideration of authorities.
The convention was chaired by NSF president Sukhdev Singh who  blamed the State Government for ignoring the Ladakh region on developmental front especially, the issues of youth. He said both Jammu and Kashmir regions have got good number of colleges to cater the need of students but Ladakh region has been ignored and given just four colleges across such a vast area. “The students here have to travel lot of distance to reach their respective colleges. Keeping in view the topography of this region more colleges and other professional institutions must be established here to cater the educational needs of Ladakhi students,” he demanded.
The NSF leader also sought campus of University of Jammu at Ladakh on the pattern of Kashmir University  so as to provide further choice to the Ladakhi students. “The students of Ladakh have huge dependence over KU  for PG courses or otherwise they have to travel to Jammu for the purpose,” he said.
The NSF president  called for social and political empowerment of the region through the process of inclusive development and  urged upon the youth to get united and raise voice against the injustice being meted out with them  by successive State Governments.
On the occasion, Sukhdev also nominated the office bearers for NSF local units.
Among those who addressed  the convention included Dorjay Namgyal, Stazin Norbo, Tundup Namgyal, Padma Namgyal, Punchok, Angmo and others.
