JAMMU, Aug 11: Taking strong note on the quantum of injuries caused due to banned Chinese thread (Gattu), NSF president Dr  Vikas Sharma  today flayed the Police administration for its failure in enforcing blanket ban on the banned thread.
Addressing a press conference, here today, Dr Vikas Sharma raised question mark on the  working of Police as the banned thread was easily available in the market despite the fact that the district administration has imposed ban on the sale of the same.
“Despite ban, the Chinese thread is not only being sold openly in the markets but there has also been a steep surge in its use for kite flying as daily two-three people are receiving mild to serious injuries but the administration in general and the Police Department in particular seem to be in deep slumber” Sharma said.
Asking  district administration to pass necessary orders to the Police to enforce ban and launch a manhunt to seize the entire quantity of Chinese thread dumped in the market, the NSF leader also appealed people against the use of this life consuming material.
