JAMMU, May 12: Upset over alleged discrimination with Jammu youth in recent selection of Assistant Professors and Lecturers, National Panthers Students Union has threatened a mass agitation against ignoring of Jammu region in all respects.
“J&K Public Service Commission seems to have crossed every limit of this discrimination with Jammu region and this is evident from the recent selection lists of Assistant Professors and Lecturers,” said Th Virender Singh, State president NPSU, while addressing a press conference here today.
Singh gave reference of the latest list of Assistant Professors, in which only three aspirants of Jammu could get their name while 24 others were selected from Kashmir. This is highly surprising that in every written test, the aspirants from Jammu get higher merit but when it comes to interview, these meritorious youth are not given adequate marks with the result that in final selection list, majority candidates are from Kashmir valley,” he said and added that it was a conspiracy by the State Government and its recruitment agency to keep Jammu youth out of Government jobs.
The NPSU leader also lambasted BJP for being party to this discrimination against Jammu for the lust of power. “Kashmir youth who raise slogans against India and do stone pelting, are being rewarded with Government jobs whereas Jammu youth, who believe in peace and nationalism, are being meted out discrimination by this PDP-BJP Coalition Government in the State,” he said and announced to launch a mass movement against this discrimination.
In this regard, he elaborated, NPSU will launch a signature campaign in Jammu province and these signatures will be sent to Prime Minister of India seeking an end to this discrimination with Jammu youth.
Singh asked the State Government to stop this discrimination otherwise Jammu youth will take to streets.
Others,  who were present in the press conference, included Anoop  Singh, Lovely Singh, Rishi Badyal, Rafiq Khan, Surya Dev Singh, Abbas Khan and  Usman Ganai.
