The agitated protesters raised slogans against the Education Department, seeking early action against Director School Education for his involvement in large scale irregularities and unlawful practices in transfers and attachments.
Addressing the gathering,  Harsh Dev Singh said that during the visits of NPP leaders to various rural and remote areas, it was observed that majority of schools faced acute deficiency of teaching staff with several of them having become virtually defunct. He regretted that with  the offices in Jammu Division having become dumping grounds for the blue eyed employees, thousands of employees including the teachers, masters and even ReTs had been attached in the office of DSEJ, CEOs, ZEOs, Tehsildars, SDMs besides city schools whimsically to confer undue advantage upon those who ironically were drawing their salaries for doing nothing.
Reminding the Govt of his own tenure as Education Minister during which 100% detachment of all teaching staff was ordered, he said that a beginning had been made from the top by detaching the siblings of Ministers, MLAs and top bureaucrats before initiating action against the commoners.
“Early investigation into the conduct of the said CEO and cancellation of all attachments, deployments and transfers made in violation of transfer policy were need of the hour to save the education system from jeopardy”, Harsh Dev said.
Asserting that the officers were accountable and answerable to the public for all the actions and decisions taken by them as public servants, he exhorted DSEJ to furnish the reply to the served charge sheet, failing which Panthers Party would be forced to intensify its stir.
He sought issuance of a white paper on all transfer and attachments of ReTs, teachers, masters, lecturers besides other education staff made in Jammu Division during the last one year.
