NPP protests humiliation of soldiers in Kashmir

JAMMU, Apr 15: Peeved over the fast deteriorating law and order situation in the State as also the demoralization caused to the security forces due to unwarranted restraints forced upon them by the Govt, Harsh Dev Singh NPP chairman and former minister has described the security scenario as unprecedented which qualified for imposition of Governor Rule in the State.
Addressing large gathering of protesters here today, Singh said that with the incumbent Govt pursuing appeasement policy and promoting the rampaging anti-nationals, subversives and the separatists in the State, it was a fit case for invocation of Sec 92 of the State Constitution. The angry NPP workers torched the effigy of BJP-PDP coalition and raised slogans against Central and State Govts.
Strongly condemning the BJP-PDP Govt for making valiant jawans in Kashmir as objects of jeers, Singh lamented that never before in the history of the State had the brave Indian Soldiers been so humiliated as to be slapped, stoned, booed, manhandled and humiliated. He said that Indian soldier had embraced death smilingly on the borders while fighting enemy but assault on his self respect by pampered brutes was wholly unacceptable.
He said that dying on the borders to defend the sovereignty and integrity of nation had always been an honour for the Indian soldier but helplessly falling prey to the assaults of anti-national elements in full public view was the greatest humiliation for them for which the top leadership of the country needed to apologize. He said that the most shameful act of pampered rogues slapping and trampling the valiant Jawans in Kashmir had disparaged the 125 crore Indians causing their heads to bow with shame.
Holding the Central and State Govts responsible for unprecedented chaos and disorder in the state, Harsh Dev lambasted the BJP in particular for its failure to appropriately respond to the highly volatile and explosive situation created in the recent past. He said that not only was the assault on Indian jawans in BJP partnered Govt most shocking but the saffron flavoured Govt further owed an explanation for the extremely low polling in the Kashmir elections which had fallen to an all time low of 2 % in the history of State.
