NPP lodges strong protest over water, power crisis

UDHAMPUR, June 11: Expressing deep concern over non availability of power and water, former MLA and NPP State president Balwant Singh Mankotia along with workers gheraoed PDD and PHE offices and lodged strong protest against shortage of electricity and drinking water in Udhampur.
They took out a `Matka Fod rally’ from Salathia Chowk and passed through different bazars of Udhampur. Thereafter, they gheraoed the PDD/PHE office and staged a sit-in in protest against acute shortage of water and electricity in Udhampur.
While addressing the party workers and locals, Balwant Singh Mankotia said people of Udhampur are facing shortage of water and electricity and this problem has turned horrible. “People are making hue and cry due to acute shortage of water, electricity but unfortunately the Government and elected representative of Udhampur have failed to address the basic problem of general masses,” he regretted.
“People are facing problem of electricity and water from past six month and there is no time schedule of power curtailment while the voltage is also very low,” said Mankotia.  Mankotia alleged that officers in connivance with elected representatives have bungled crores of rupees by presenting fraud bills and this bungling needed detailed inquiry.
On this occasion, Dhani Ram Attri, Amarnath Mehra, Tirenter Singh, Jagdev Jagga, Pawan Dev Singh, Rampal Bhagat, Sanjeet Sharma, Shiv Dev Singh, Mohammed Rafeeq, Sunil Gudda, Pushvinder Singh, Ashok Malkan and Mohammed Mirza were also present.
