KATHUA, Nov 29:  Lambasting the Government for its refusal to respond to the genuine concerns of the teachers, education volunteers and ReTs  appointed under SSA, RMSA who had been deprived of their hard earned wages for the last more than seven months, several Panther activists from Kathua district headquarters led by Balwant Singh Mankotia State President JKNPP staged a massive protest demonstration for the cause of teachers and torched the effigy of the State Government.
Mankotia said these teachers had submitted representations on numerous occasions to the top functionaries of the Education Department for redressal of their genuine grievances including timely release of salaries but all were in vain.  He said that it was shocking to note the harassment and humiliation doled out to teaching community besides deprivation of their hard earned wages by the government which gave tall slogans of accountability and good Governance.  He deplored that the helmsmen, instead of protecting and encouraging the interests of the teaching community were only harassing them on the pretext of alleged fraudulent degrees, screening tests, private tuitions etc.
